Prompt 3 Lamaya Davis

The movie What Women Want is about a guy is knows the least bit about what a woman us really looking for and what she thinks. In the movie the actor Mel Gibson was brought up around nothing but women because of his mom's job. Him being brought up in that environment when he got older he thought he knew everything there is to know about women. But his luck with women even his own daughter shows that he doesn't know anything about what a woman is looking for.
The ironic thing about the movie is that he works for business that sells products for women. So, to get the feel of these products and how they think women would react to them they have to use them and report what they think about them back to their boss.In other words she's making a man take a short walk in a woman's shoes.
In the process of trying on these products he falls into the tube with a blow dryer and is given a shock. This shock allows him the next day to be able to hear what a woman is thinking. As the movies progresses he learns more and more about what women are truly looking for and he takes on a whole new look of women. This gift that he developed helped him understand women more than he ever did he even connected with his daughter and saved their relationship. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLjEPZHsyzU&feature=related
Even though he uses this gift to an advantage once its gone he still keeps with him the "lessons" he learned and new understanding of women and began to treat women way better than before. I relate this movie to class because in his line of work he steps out of the role of a man and into the role of a woman. Even with that transition being so small and quick he see what a woman endures and goes through just to keep themselves up. He also sees the difficulty and pain women endure compared a man just giving a quick swift of the hair.
Then being able to hear what a woman is thinking lets him inside the mind of a woman and use her thoughts to be able to present to her what she is looking for. He also learns how some women feel because of them being "invisible" to everyone. In the end he gave more respect to women and realized that it's not as easy as it looks to be a girl.

  1. I have never heard of this movie but it sounds good! It would be interesting to switch to the other gender and see what it is like/how they think. This movie seems like a good one for women because it shows a man giving respect to women and that is what we want!

  2. Ive never seen this movie but I am a big fan of Mel Gibson so I may have to check it out. It would be very cool to have the ability to know what people are thinking about. I think that for most guys, it is hard to figure out what exactly a girl wants, which makes it harder to figure out how to make them happy. Its important for people to be open about their expectations and it sounds like this movie is trying to show that.
